This course is for qualified civil engineers who want to become qualified to carry out road safety audits on the Irish road network.
TMS has been awarded the contract to run the Road Safety Audit course, in partnership with University College Dublin (UCD) and approved by Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
The Professional Certificate in Road Safety Audit takes place at UCD campus and comprises of a series of five two day modules. As soon as the next set of dates are confirmed, they will be listed here.
This training will prepare Road Safety Engineers to become members of a Road Safety Audit Team.
From 2013, all road safety auditors carrying out road safety audits on the Trans European Road Network (TERN) need to have a Certificate of Competence, validated by an EU Member State, in order to carry out road safety audits on the Irish TERN network.
The course comprises of 10 days training but also examinations and assessed project work.
This, in addition to the current Irish DMRB requirements (HD19/09) of 5 audits as a trainee and 5 audits as a Team Member, will be part of the requirements to become a Team Leader. This course has been approved by the Road Safety Authority and passing the exam will result in a Certificate of Competence qualification.
