At a ceremony held in University College Dublin on 11 June, Prof Gerry Byrne, Principal of the College of Engineering and Architecture, awarded certificates of competency to successful students from a recent TMS Consultancy Irish Cert Comp course. The photos show Prof Byrne awarding certificates to Des O'Connor, Milan Gajic, Mary Freyne and Owen Duffy. UCD Lecturer Dr Aoife Ahern also made a presentation at the ceremony. The Irish Certificate of Competency has now been run on 4 separate occasions with over 110 students going through the 10 day course, assignment and examination process. The Irish National Roads Authority have worked with TMS to develop the qualification, which is presented by TMS trainers, with academic verification being provided by UCD.
Steve Proctor said after the ceremony: "We are very proud that to have had the opportunity to develop this qualification and deliver the training. These students have demonstrated a high level of achievement and will, I am sure, go on to make a significant contribution to road safety in Ireland through their work as Road Safety Auditors."
