TMS trainers Keith Sansom and Steve Proctor recently delivered a two day course for road safety staff and bikeability instructors at Worcestershire County Council.
The course focused on the procedural and practical aspects of undertaking risk assessments for on street pedestrian and cycle training. Delegates worked through the theoretical approach to risk assessment, and then undertook site visits to put the theory into practice.
The photo to the left shows one of the bikeability instructors riding past parked vehicles to assess whether this would be a suitable location to train children.
TMS has been assisting Worcestershire with these courses since 2010, and has helped the county to develop a series of procedures for this work.
TMS trainer Steve Proctor said “It’s a pleasure to work with the staff at Worcestershire, they ask lots of relevant questions and have a real desire to help children learn how to walk and ride safely. I’m sure that their approach is one of the best in the UK, and we wish them all the best as they continue this important work”
