TMS attended the Society of Road Safety Auditors (SoRSA) Conference in June 2013 at the Crown Plaza hotel in Birmingham. The conference is an annual gathering of professionals in the field of road safety auditing and allows delegates to network and share knowledge on current best practice.
This year TMS had a stand at the conference, overseen by our Courses Manager Gill Brooks. She presented the wide range of courses offered by TMS, including the two day Road Safety Audit course, which allows delegates to gain the Highways Agency Approved "Certificate of Professional Competency". This will be a professional requirement from December 2013 for those involved in auditing schemes on trunk roads. A highlight of the stand was a prize draw of £100 high street vouchers for those leaving us their details of training requirements.
At the conference, Steve Proctor started the proceedings on Day 2 by giving a presentation on current legislation surrounding road safety. This provided an overview of laws and regulations affecting our industry (with some examples of case law). Legal issues can be a complex topic and Steve's talk helped delegates to gain an understanding of the various issues related to the work we do on a daily basis.
