TMS recently worked with Canadian Company “Transafe Consulting Ltd” on a large LRT (tram) project in Edmonton, Canada. Transafe employed TMS to gain a European perspective on low floor integrated tram systems, as there are proposals to introduce them in the Canadian city. The current tram lines in Edmonton operate a high floor system, which is mostly segregated from existing highway infrastructure, but new lines will be more integrated with improved accessibility for all users.
“It was good to exchange ideas and offer advice to the Canadian Engineers working on the project. We have gained a lot of road safety knowledge of tram systems, having worked on LRT projects in Dublin (Ireland) and Birmingham (UK). The transfer of such knowledge and skills will be crucial to ensure the success of the scheme.” – Harminder Aulak, Technical Director of Engineering Services
