When Surrey Police wanted to further their 'Drive SMART' campaign to educate drivers and crack down on anti-social driving by equipping local parish councils in the Guildford borough with portable vehicle-activated speed limit signs, who else would they ask to provide highway safety training to the volunteer parish councillors but TMS, one of the leading suppliers of training to road safety and traffic management professionals.
PC Matt Redfern, Guildford's Casualty reduction officer teamed up with Mark Steventon, Senior Road Safety Consultant at TMS, to deliver training to 23 local parish councillors and volunteers, providing the essential basic highway safety skills to enable them to erect the flashing VAS signs in pre-selected sites in villages around the Guildford borough.
PC Redfern said, "TMS were excellent right from the start. They were very flexible and provided exactly the sort of training we needed. The feedback from the volunteers has been excellent."
