TMS Consultancy has delivered two one day Risk Assessment courses for road safety staff in the west of Scotland. The courses, which took place at East Ayrshire Council in Kilmarnock, were focused on the task of assessing Walking Routes to School (WRTS) in situations where parents are appealing a decision of the Council not to provide school transport.
The one day course included discussions of how to undertake risk assessments in road safety work, detailed examination of the West of Scotland WRTS guidance, together with a desk and site based workshop to put some of the aspects of the guidelines into practice.
Further courses are planned for the end of September in Clydebank. The photo shows delegates assessing a potential road crossing location during the site visit.
TMS trainer Steve Proctor, who undertook the training said: “I hope this course increases Road Safety Officers’ confidence in their ability to undertake this crucial work in assessing whether walking routes are acceptable from a road safety point of view.”
