In June 2012 TMS carried out Stage 1 Road Safety Audits on two brand new proposed expressways in Doha, Qatar, on behalf of Parsons International Ltd. The new expressways will form part of the ever expanding road infrastructure around the periphery of Doha and throughout the rest of Qatar. The expressways are to be constructed on virgin dessert land with anticipated completion in 2026.
The scope of the Road Safety Audit covered the length of the mainline of the two schemes including the proposed interchanges.
Al Wakrah bypass is a proposed 11km expressway with three free flowing interchanges and one single point urban intersection and connects with the proposed East West Corridor scheme to the north and to the existing Wakrah to Mesaieed road to the south.
The 21km East - West Corridor expressway connects with the existing Airport Expressway to the east and terminates at the Industrial Area to the west. Along its length are eight major interchanges of varying designs.
Over the past two years TMS has carried out numerous Road Safety Audits within Doha, Qatar and continues to develop its international safety audit profile within the Middle East.
