Two TMS Engineers (Harminder Aulak and Robert Cyples) recently travelled to Qatar to carry out a road safety audit on a large development site in Doha, Qatar.
The London to Doha flight is a regular route travelled by TMS Engineers to carry out safety audits and assessments in the Middle East. This time it was for a detailed design safety audit of approximately 22km of new roads associated with a residential development in the Zone 40 area of the rapidly expanding city.
Despite initial concerns about the Boeing Dreamliners technical problems, which hit the headlines in January, the TMS Engineers embarked on their journey on the new jet. No problems were experienced and the flight went without a hitch. However, a few days later, all Dreamliners were grounded! Luckily for Harminder and Robert, they were due to return on an Airbus A340 and again landed back at Heathrow without problems, though just ahead of a snow storm which shut down large parts of the UK!
After the trip Harminder quoted, "I had every faith in the Boeing Dreamliner and look forward to travelling on it again. However, I don't think this viewpoint is shared by my colleagues at TMS!"
