Road Safety Study at St George's Park – National Football Centre

TMS were tasked to carry out a Road Safety Study at St George’s Park in Burton upon Trent. A 330-acre site, which is home to the England National Football Teams, The FA Learning centre, a Hilton Hotel, and other community football facilities.

The purpose of the study was to assess the internal road and footway network for the whole of the site and identify issues that could lead to collisions (all users) or mobility problems for pedestrians.

The site was visited during daytime hours and during the evening (and darkness) when community activity was at its peak. This was to ascertain driver and pedestrian behaviours and overall interaction around the site, where facilities may be lacking or enhanced.

Following the site visit, TMS produced a bespoke report for the client, identifying potential problems and issues and suggestions to help mitigate against these. It is hoped that the report and findings will help to form the basis for the future improvement planning for the site, identifying key areas that require immediate attention and those that are more long-term aspirational improvements.

For TMS, this has been a unique experience as it has taken us away from our usual work on local and national highways and into the realm of networks on private land, where the scope is more focused on the potential for improvement, rather than preventing collisions.

TMS have extensive road safety knowledge and carry out bespoke road safety studies on the public highway network and on private land, for private sector organisations.  If you are interested in how we may be able to help your company, or require a quotation, then please email Lorna Styring.  If you would like to discuss your requirements then please call Lorna on 024 7669 0900.
