Over recent years, Lancaster University has expanded with new teaching, research, college and residential facilities, and a new Sports Centre has recently been opened on the access road into the Campus.
At the University, it is an on-going objective to provide and maintain safe and convenient access into and around the Campus for staff, students and visitors, and for all types of road users. A number of improvements are currently being planned or implemented throughout the campus for that purpose, and TMS has been assisting the Facilities Department for some two years now with the achievement of road safety objectives and general traffic management on all roads around the campus.
This has included detailed safety assessments with recommendations, design advice, risk assessments of proposed improvements, and a substantial de-cluttering study. Most recently, TMS has carried out the detailed design of road safety features associated with a major building refurbishment, which followed on from previous design advice at an adjacent area.
TMS has also recently carried out junction improvement design work for Keele University.
