TMS has recently been commissioned to develop an Impact Protection Strategy for Essex County Council. The aim of this strategy is to ensure the consistent provision of road restraint systems and passively safe roadside products on the highway network throughout the County.
The strategy will be data-led, and will include guidelines for the introduction of impact protection measures on new schemes. A formal risk assessment process will be used where it is determined that TD19/06 does not have to be applied.
The strategy will also include guidelines for retrospective introduction of impact protection measures by developing a locally relevant prioritisation hierarchy for future application on the existing road network.
