TMS has recently been awarded a contract to manage and provide road safety training for the Devon Road Safety Academy. This involves provision of training courses for staff working for Devon Country Council and its road safety partners including Fire and Rescue and the Police.
The training includes a series of road safety foundation courses available to all staff and then subsequent training in specific areas such as:
For each course, TMS provides delegates with on-line pre-course reading and a short on-line post course quiz to assess the knowledge gained, in addition to a one day inter-active training course.
The Devon Road Safety Academy has been funded in the first year through a DfT grant, and more information regarding individual courses can be found on the Academy website.
Road Casualty Reduction Partnership Programme Manager Jeremy Phillips said:
''Creating a common platform for the training and support of our partners has been a substantial project and TMS have worked closely with us to achieve our goals. It's essential that everyone working in the road casualty reduction field - whether full time professionals in road safety, internal or external partners, contractors or volunteers - is on message, focused and trained in achieving a set of common goals.
The work of the Devon Road Safety Academy is to provide that training and support and working with DfT and TMS has enabled us to move quickly to a position where we are delivering first class training to hundreds of people assisting us in the road safety effort".
