Royal recognition for safety efforts

For the second year running, the Chartered Institution has been presented with a coveted Prince Michael International Road Safety Award.

In December, the award was made to CIHT in recognition of its newly published Road Safety Audit guidelines.  Representatives from CIHT attended an award ceremony hosted by HRH Prince Michael of Kent at London's Park Lane hotel on 8th December.  The award was presented three days later to President Chris Jackson by Tony Spalding of charity RoadSafe at a reception prior to the Annual Luncheon.

Managing editor Steve Proctor from TMS (MCIHT), who compiled the guidelines said:

"It is a great honour for the Chartered Institution to have been recognised in this way.  The updated guidelines serve an important tool for road safety auditors".

In 2008, the Institution was presented with a Prince Michael International Road Safety Award for its Collision Prevention and Reduction guidelines.
