Overview

Please note that this course is tailored to suit candidates in Scotland only.

This residential course comprises of lectures in the first week and practical work in the second week. The all-inclusive price includes course fees, a copy of the Road Safety Engineering Manual and 8 nights accommodation, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.

This course is suitable for those who require a solid, comprehensive understanding of the theory and practice of road accident investigation and prevention. It is designed for Engineers and technicians working in Local Authorities, Consultancies and Trunk Road - Operating Companies. It is also suitable for road safety officers, police and armed forces officers and other professionals concerned with road safety.

Completion of the two-week course provides the core requirement for Transport Scotland for Road Safety Auditors. Safety Audits can only be undertaken on trunk roads and motorways by suitably trained and experienced staff.

Course Content

  • National and local road safety policies

  • Introduction to the primary road safety stakeholders in Scotland

  • Accident causation, accident data

  • Accident investigation techniques, statistical and economic analysis of data, site and route solutions, area wide studies and safety audit

  • Prevention techniques and the "hands-on" ability to put these into practice

    Delegates will work in teams during the second week to investigate and analyse a real-life case study and design an appropriate remedial programme. Each team produces a written report and a presentation on the final day of the course.

    Cost

    The price for attending this two week residential course is £2,090 + VAT. Please note that should you wish to attend the course on a non-residential basis, the price is £1,730 + VAT (please indicate this option on the booking form)

    Please note that for this particular course invoices will be raised on receipt of your booking form and should be paid within 30 days or prior to the start date of the course, whichever is sooner. If invoices are not paid prior to the date of the course, delegates will NOT be able to attend.
