Overview
Both government and local authorities actively encourage increases in cycling, both for health and transport reasons.
Some areas have seen significant increases in recent years. The provision of cycle infrastructure facilities is a vital
part of this process. Transport for London has produced a comprehensive design document – the London Cycle Design Standards,
most of which is applicable in other parts of the country.
