Passive Safety can greatly reduce the single vehicle collision problem on both national and local roads. Advice has been produced for trunk roads in the past, but now Guidelines have been prepared for the local roads where many of the KSI collisions occur. All delegates will receive a copy of the Passive Safety Guidelines.
The morning session includes speakers from TMS, the Passive Safety UK, the Passive Safety Industry, and Local Authorities. Topics include the Scale of the Problem, the principles of Passive Safety, a description of the contents of the Guidelines, together with case studies on design and safety issues, and local authority procedures for introducing Passive Safety.
Delegates will also have plenty of opportunity to look around an exhibition of passive safety products.
Exhibitors will be a selection from the following:
In the afternoon two workshops will take place. The first workshop involves using passive safety in an improvement scheme, the second workshop involves using passive safety in a new build.
The objective of the day is to provide designers, safety auditors and transport managers with a solid background in passive safety principles, together with an understanding of the tools available to design safe schemes and prepare robust local procedures.
Delegates completing this course will receive a CPD certificate of attendance, recognised by both the IHE and CIHT.
