Introduction to the Design of Road Markings and Signs
Overview:
This course will provide an insight into the design of traffic signs and road markings, and will give delegates the confidence to design traffic signing and road marking schemes once back in their working environment. This course is particularly beneficial to those professionals new to traffic management/road safety and those which have an interest in the design of traffic schemes.
Aims and Objectives:
- To give an introduction to implementing traffic signs and road markings
- To review current legislation and guidance
- To discuss practical aspects and current issues
Topics Covered:
- Consider why traffic signs are prescribed in law
- Review the different types of sign and their function
- Look at the various DfT guidance
- General principles of direction sign design including practical workshop
- General principles of road markings
- Chapter 5 & The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002
- Examples of different types of markings including Workshop
Certification:
Delegates completing this course will receive a CPD certificate of attendance, recognised by both the IHE and CIHT.
