Introduction to Roundabouts and Mini-Roundabouts

Overview:

A course designed to provide an understanding of the principles and practice of designing roundabouts.  This course is aimed at a broad range of professionals who are involved in designing or assessing the adequacy of  this type of junction. The course consists of informal short lectures, practical workshop and discussion sessions, case studies and examples.

Aims and Objectives:

• To examine a range of issues in the design of roundabouts and mini-roundabouts
• To examine the issues relating to safety, operation and capacity
• To examine the implications of these in planning and scheme design and performance

Topics Covered:

• General principles of design
• Visibility
• Geometric design including lane width, entry deflection, entry angle etc.
• Typical layouts and design features
• Capacity issues including ARCADY
• Safety Issues 

Certification:

Delegates completing this course will receive a CPD certificate of attendance, recognised by both the IHE and CIHT.
