Speed Limits: Strategy, Assessment, Review


Overview:

A one day course covering the assessment of new speed limits and the review of existing speed limits.  This course introduces those who participate to the latest guidance on the subject as well as covering examples of good and bad practice.


Aims and Objectives:

  • To assist delegates who may be involved in the assessment of new speed limits and the review of existing speed limits
  • To introduce participants to the lastest guidance on the subject as well as covering examples of good and bad practice
  • To encourage delegates to share ideas and experience

  • The speed problem
  • Factors affecting drivers choice of speed
  • Influencing driver behaviour
  • National and local speed management strategies
  • Reviewing and assessing local speed limits
  • Urban speed management inc. 20 mph limits and zones and traffic calming
  • Rural speed management
  • The role of enforcement and technology


Certification:

Delegates completing this course will receive a CPD certificate of attendance, recognised by both the IHE and CIHT.
