N2 Clontibret to Castleblayney

This scheme was the first purpose-built "2+1" road in the Republic and consists of 16km of new road, bypassing both Castleblayney and Clontibret. The "2+1" road cross section consists of two lanes in one direction of travel and one lane in the opposite direction, with the two-lane section providing a safe overtaking zone, alternating with a one-lane section at intervals.
