LUAS line, Dublin

The tramway project was the first of its kind in the country and TMS were the safety auditors for this prestigious project from preliminary design through to opening. Two tramway lines were constructed, with one from the west and the other from the south to the city centre.

The tram lines ran along both dedicated track and along highways and so specialist knowledge was required in terms of interaction between trams and other road users. In total, 26.5km of track was laid with 40 stations, and operations began in 2004.

The project cost in the region of €770 million and was part funded by the EU.
