In June 2006, TMS was commissioned by Fingal County Council to undertake various Operational Access and Mobility Audits on sites throughout the county of Fingal, Ireland. The purpose of these audits was to develop Accessibility Demonstration Schemes in order to develop good practice guidance for future schemes.
The sites included Blanchardstown Village Centre, a number of roads around the central area of Lusk Village, Portmarnock Town Centre, the route from Skerries Town Centre to the Railway Station and Swords Town Centre.
In addition to the above, Fingal County Council also planned to carry out major footway works along Bridge Street, Drogheda Street, Dublin Street and Hampton Street in Balbriggan. The Council appointed TMS to undertake a Mobility / User Audit on their proposals. A separate Stage 2 Road Safety Audit was also carried out by TMS on this scheme.
The purpose of the Mobility/User Audit was to identify accessibility and safety issues for all road users, but with particular regard to mobility and visually impaired users and to vulnerable modes of travel.
