Road Safety Engineering
plays a vital role in helping to reduce road accident casualties and to
alleviate the public perception of danger. With the 2010 Casualty Reduction Targets fast approaching, TMS has the knowledge, experience and expertise to support your
organisations drive for improvements.
We have extensive experience in all aspects of road safety engineering and AIP and can provide effective solutions

TMS has carried out over 5,000 Road Safety Audits on a variety of schemes, at all
stages for Local Authorites, Consultants and Developers/Contractors covering both the UK and Ireland.

Our approach to road safety audit work is based on extensive safety engineering
experience and all of our road safety audits are carried out by two skilled safety auditors. We carry out audits on both a term contract
and ad-hoc basis.
Prompted by casualty
reduction targets and public concern, there is an ever-present need to
identify and treat locations with potential for accident reduction.

Single Site Accident Studies:
We
have carried out numerous studies of high-risk sites both in the UK and
overseas.

Route Accident Studies:We
extend the analysis and design of safety schemes to mass action and route
action plans.

Area-Wide Accident Studies:
Our comprehensive strategy for area-wide safety studies has been used successfully
throughout the UK to achieve significant accident reduction.

20 mph and “Home” Zones: Speed limits
can be reduced to 20 mph or even lower in residential streets used by pedestrians
and cyclists. We have successfully designed and implemented 20 mph zones
in a number of towns and cities throughout the UK.

Public Consultation: We have considerable
experience in designing and organising public consultation material for
schemes, arranging public exhibitions, analysing responses and giving presentations
at public meetings and Local Authority committees.

TMS can assist local highway authorities
with the production of a comprehensive Road Safety Plan or specific element
of the Local Transport Plan.
We also advise on strategies
for a range of speed management features such as traffic calming, speed
cameras, interactive signing and education and publicity initiatives.

TMS has assisted a number of Local Authorities and the Highways Agency with the production of comprehensive Road Safety Plans
to co-ordinate resources across multiple agencies to reduce accidents, meet targets and reduce public concern over road safety issues, including speed management
plans.
Road Safety Plans have been drafted by TMS for East Riding of Yorkshire Council, London Borough of Lambeth and the Isle of Wight Council.
