    Local Safety Schemes

Prompted by casualty reduction targets and public concern, there is an ever-present need to identify and treat locations with potential for accident reduction.
    • Single Site Accident Studies: We have carried out numerous studies of high-risk sites both in the UK and overseas.

    • Route Accident Studies:We extend the analysis and design of safety schemes to mass action and route action plans.

    • Area-Wide Accident Studies: Our comprehensive strategy for area-wide safety studies has been used successfully throughout the UK to achieve significant accident reduction.

    • 20 mph and “Home” Zones: Speed limits can be reduced to 20 mph or even lower in residential streets used by pedestrians and cyclists. We have successfully designed and implemented 20 mph zones in a number of towns and cities throughout the UK.

    • Public Consultation: We have considerable experience in designing and organising public consultation material for schemes, arranging public exhibitions, analysing responses and giving presentations at public meetings and Local Authority committees.

Road Safety & Speed Management Plans

TMS can assist local highway authorities with the production of a comprehensive Road Safety Plan or specific element of the Local Transport Plan.

We also advise on strategies for a range of speed management features such as traffic calming, speed cameras, interactive signing and education and publicity initiatives.

TMS has assisted a number of Local Authorities and the Highways Agency with the production of comprehensive Road Safety Plans to co-ordinate resources across multiple agencies to reduce accidents, meet targets and reduce public concern over road safety issues, including speed management plans.

Road Safety Plans have been drafted by TMS for East Riding of Yorkshire Council, London Borough of Lambeth and the Isle of Wight Council.
